Our non-profit relies heavily on donations to continue our mission of preserving Aitkin's artistic roots and creating an art space with rotating exhibits and classes that welcomes everyone in the community. On March 14, 2026 from noon to 3:00 PM, Good Friend Studios will be displaying their art at the Jaques Art Center at 121 2nd St. NW in Aitkin, Minnesota. We are a group of four artists who have been painting together for over 20 years. All of us studied oil painting under Harvey Schroeder in his Elk River studio. Harvey was deeply connected within the art community and provided us the opportunity to take classes with many accomplished painters, including Carolyn Anderson, Mary Pettis, Bonnie Roberts, Skip Whitcomb, and Lorenzo Chavez.
When Harvey’s studio closed during COVID, four good friends formed a new studio: Donn Granros, Laura Heller, Linda Croteau, and Jeff Lundeen. We have continued to take classes and research our individual approaches to painting. While each of us has a unique style, we value and respect our individuality as artists.
The Jaques Art Center is an incredible gift to the city of Aikin, Minnesota. It continues to provide artists with opportunities to share original artwork with people across the state. A spring visit to the center offers a unique escape for anyone who loves art and enjoys supporting artists.
The exhibit will run from Friday May 13, 2026 through Saturday May 9, 2026. An artist reception will be held on Saturday March 14th from noon to 3 pm. Meet our artists enjoy the refreshments and ambiance of the Jaques Art Center. Always free admission!
