Mary Therese Peterson works with a variety of media
such as inks, dyes, wax resists, pastels, acrylics and
watercolors. Depending on the surface of the paper,
cotton, silk or wood, she enjoys painting and printmaking
anything from scarves to murals.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries, homes and
public places locally and internationally. Passionate
about public art and community, she often shares the
creative process working with groups of all ages
encouraging others to make and enjoy art.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Peterson began her
studies of painting, printmaking and sculpture at
Edinboro State College, PA. She has traveled to Ireland,
England, France and Scotland studying the history of art
as well as researching her ancestral roots.

Currently living near Bemidji, Minnesota, she finds
inspiration in the beauty and serenity in the wilderness
around her. She is facinated by the magic of light, color
and space. The circle often appears in work becoming a
symbol of the self, the earth, the infinite universe, and
oneness with the Creator. The process of making art is a
way to reflect, connect, share and celebrate life.
